Flight Is Not an Option?
So That Leaves. . .
I've been accused often of trying to stay too many steps ahead of myself. So to be even considering the possibility of a GOP win in 2012 could be seen as more of the same.
I saw two responses immediately. The first was to flee to Europe; I'd look to a country like Denmark or Norway, places that have proven that many of the concepts that the corporations and their media mouthpieces have said can't be done. I'm sure IT professionals are needed just about anywhere. I had even done searches on Amazon.com for books on the subject.
But then I got to thinking that a few decisions I had made, many before the thought of a GOP victory in 2012 ever crossed my mind, were setting me on a path of resistance.
The first was to learn LINUX. Actually, I'm on my 3rd attempt, but it proving to be the most successful to date. I'm currently working on extending a script and will contine to apply the 'see it, try it, tweak it' to other scripts I find.
My desire to learn LINUX led me to find a distribution of LINUX that I could see as being a tool for members of a resistance. The distribution, with the capabilities to be booted from a USB drive, and surf the web through a network of servers, is developed with people in repressive regimes in mind. But I could see opponents of 'USA Inc' also tapping it's power. I'm actually using the distro to write this hub.
The final, and most recent decision, might be the one that truly tells me that I've chosen the 'Path of Resistance'. I've put in for a 3-month fellowship with the group that did a lot of the leg work for the Wisconsin recalls. I'm personally hoping to work on the efforts in Ohio to repeal that state's anti-union legislation.
I've got some other ideas percolating as well. I could refresh my skills in HTML, CSS, etc and build a website to help folks like Rick Smith of the Rick Smith Show and Traci Kelly of Equal Time Radio extend their reach.
And I can only wonder what ideas will result from my visit to the monthly gathering of the local 2600 group.
